Solana is generally the cheapest production chain for x402, with USDC transfer fees consistently in the fractions-of-a-cent range thanks to its high-throughput design and lamport-denominated fees. Base (an Ethereum L2 built by Coinbase) is similarly low-cost, typically under one cent for a USDC transfer. Polygon and Arbitrum sit slightly higher but remain practical for micropayments.
